In his latest lecture,Green and Red Podcast co-host, and University of Houston history professor, Dr. Bob Buzzanco talks about the causes of the Great Depression.
He discusses surplus capital, foreign economic crises (debts-reparations triangle, global trade plummets), the stock market, poverty, the lack of economic diversity and the credit crunch. And then gets into Herbert Hoover’s (failed ) responses: Balanced Budget, Tariffs, Government Spending.
This, of course, sets the stage for the election of 1932, the rise of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, illusion and hope, The three R’s and the New Deal.
