One of the greater historians of the 20th Century, Arno Mayer, died a couple weeks ago so we paid tribute to him with a discussion of some of his important work. We talked about his path-breaking books about the Great War and aftermath (Political Origins of the New Diplomacy and Politics and Diplomacy of Peacemaking, as well as The Persistence of the Old Regime), his controversial book on the Holocaust (Why Did the Heavens Not Darken?), and his views on the real motivations of the National Socialists in Germany (which weren’t anti-Semitism).
One of the most important Left scholars of our time. Check out his work and study his ideas.
