One Uprising After Another: Gen Z Rebellions in Asia and Beyond w/ Scholar George Katsiaficas

Mass political awakenings have occurred recently in Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and most recently, Madagascar. This is part of an overall pattern of mass movements called “The Eros Effect” by historian and social theorist George Katsiaficas. In the past 60 years, this has included the global uprisings of 1968, the nuclear disarmament movement of the early 1980s, Asia’s pro-democracy uprisings in the 80s and 90s, the anti-corporate globalization movement, the Arab Spring, the Indignados Movement and Occupy Wall Street moment of 2011, and now the Gen Z uprisings sweeping Asia, Africa and other parts of the world.
