Green and Red talks with journalist Will Parrish and researcher Charlotte Grubb about “fusion centers” being used to track and surveil anti-pipeline opponents.
Fusion centers are a local-state-federal law enforcement entities created to gather intelligence on “terrorists,” but have been most visibly seen targeting domestic opponents of corporations and governmental policy makers.
One operative from the fusion center connected to the protests at Standing Rock in 2016 now works as a “consultant” for law enforcement in Minnesota on Line 3 protests. We’ve seen them in use against pipeline protests in Texas, Oklahoma, Oregon, North Dakota and, now, Minnesota. They were also connected to crackdown on Occupy Wall Street in late 2011.
Hi! Would we be able to use pieces of this in a video for our Environmental Justice class on the police brutality experienced at pipeline protests?
sure. use whatever you like. please credit us where you can.
